The principals at Shockproof! Training have a common history. At one time they worked together at Financial Proformas, Inc. developing the most widely used financial analysis and commercial credit training programs in the financial services industry - FAST and CAL, respectively. The principals sold the company to Moody's Investors Services and then regrouped several years later to develop new approaches to commercial and real estate credit training.

Tom Halupnik

Tom Halupnik

Instructor

Tom combines real world banking experience with excellent facilitation skills to create learning events that engage and stimulate participants. He has served three regional banks as a middle market loan officer, as a retail branch manager, and in a leadership role as regional manager.

Tom also brings the additional perspective drawn from his service in several roles in the captive finance / indirect lending environment. He has capped his financial services career by sharing insights with and challenging a new generation of bankers as an active facilitator and training manager closely aligned with the strategic objectives of line-of-business leaders.

Tom's experience is evidenced by his success in multiple roles ranging from commercial and retail loan origination, to initiating commercial leases, credit underwriting, and collections. He brings the combined nuances of his diversified experience and knowledge to bear in the training environment for the benefit of his participants.

Tom holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Iowa. He has applied his skill as an instructor and board member at the Barret School of Banking and as an Army Reserve Command & General Staff Officer College instructor.

Nancy McDaniel

Instructor

Nancy combines 25 years of commercial credit experience at one national and one regional commercial bank with a passion for training to bring meaningful context to class participants.

After graduating from an 18 month US Bank Commercial Loan Training program, Nancy began her commercial credit career as a commercial loan officer. Nancy's 10 year career at U.S. Bank included regional management and commercial credit team leadership.

Continuing her commercial banking career at Sterling Bank (subsequently acquired by Umpqua), she began as a VP in Private Banking and left 15 years later as the bank's EVP Chief Portfolio Manager, a member of the executive management team, Chairman of the Executive Credit Committee, Chairman of the Special Assets Committee, Chairman of ALLL, and a member of ALCO. Her scope of responsibilities included oversight of all Construction and Commercial Real Estate credit administration, Special Assets, REO, and the Investment Department. She led the credit side of merger and acquisition due diligence, and Nancy produced and facilitated commercial credit, CRE, construction administration and loan workout training.

Finding training to be enjoyable, Nancy left to pursue a career as an independent trainer and consultant specializing in commercial credit projects, loan review, and due diligence. In her training classes, Nancy shares her experiences as a relationship manager, credit administrator, loan review manager and Chief Credit Officer, to enhance the practical application of the concepts. Nancy is an alumna of the University of San Diego where she majored in business and minored in accounting.

Jeane Parks

Jeanne Parks

Instructor

Jeanne is an enthusiastic facilitator who focuses on encouraging participants to tackle complex concepts. Her humor and energy add life to dry topics, such as accounting.

Jeanne brings over 25 years’ experience as instructional designer and facilitator in the banking industry. She began her banking career as the Training Manager for Well Fargo Bank's Wholesale Banking Division. Working with managers and employees at all levels, she developed the Wholesale Bank's first New Loan Officer Orientation program designed to familiarize new Loan Officers on how to navigate the bank's loan approval and documentation process. Later, as VP/Training Manager for The Mechanics Bank, she orchestrated training for employees at all levels including retail and commercial lenders.

Since 2006, Jeanne has been an independent training consultant whose domestic and international banking clients include Wells Fargo Bank, WAMU Bank, Credite Agricole, and the National Bank of Egypt. She also proofreads allShockproof! Training's participant materials.

Jeanne has a Bachelor of Arts in English and French from the Assumption College and a Master of Arts from the University of Chicago in Comparative Literature.

Fred Robie

Sr. Instructor

Fred is an accomplished facilitator and trainer with more than 30 years of experience in the financial services arena. He is recognized for creating stimulating and interactive learning environments, encouraging participation and individual contributions, and providing effective, clear, and concise information in formats that promote high retention levels.

Most recently, Fred has facilitated courses throughout the United States as well as foreign countries in accounting, finance, financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, tax return analysis, commercial real estate, negotiation skills, Growing Branch Profitability and Executive Suite Banking Simulation. In addition, Fred does financial consulting work for several companies and banks. Fred was formerly an adjunct professor of finance in the MBA program for Thomas College and has taught courses at both the Northern New England School of Banking at the University of New Hampshire as well as the New England School of Banking at Williams College.

Prior to his consulting work, Fred served as a senior vice president and credit officer for Key Bank in various commercial lending and commercial credit administration capacities in the northeast. In these positions, Fred successfully attained a number of key accomplishments including managing a commercial loan portfolio of $200 million with 10% annual growth, maintaining a high credit quality portfolio with delinquency percentages under .3%, developing and managing the statewide Commercial Credit Department, and creating and conducting commercial credit training for all commercial loan officers in Maine.

Fred earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Business from the University of Maine. He also holds an associate degree in real estate from Thomas College as well as a Graduate Certificate in Banking from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware.

Rex Beach

Rex Beach

Managing

Rex Beach worked in politics, government, academia, and finance before founding Financial Proformas, Inc. in 1981, which became the leading provider of financial analysis software and risk assessment education to banking and financial institutions around the world. The company was twice included on INC magazine's "500" list of fastest growing, privately held companies in the U.S.

Earlier in his career, Beach was legislative assistant to Senator James B. Pearson in Washington, D.C., Assistant Professor of Economics at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, assistant to the Secretary of the Treasury, David M. Kennedy in Washington, D.C., U.S. Executive Director at the Asian Development Bank in Manila, Philippines with rank of ambassador. He worked in the International and Credit Policy divisions of Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco, California prior to founding Financial Proformas, Inc., which was acquired by Moody's Investor Services in 1995.

Beach is currently president of Shockproof! Training, which provides commercial credit and risk assessment training to financial institutions.

Beach has a BA in economics from Kansas State University, an MA in international relations from The Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in economics from Brown University.

John Colbert

John Colbert specializes in all aspects of the product development cycle from concept, to launch, to client engagement and support with a particular focus on software products and services for the financial institutions industry. For eight years, he was Software Development Director for Financial Proformas, Inc., where he managed the development, operations, and support activities for 50 software releases in five product lines across multiple platforms until the acquisition of that company by Moody's Investor Services in 1995. Subsequently, he served as Director of Software Operations for Moody's Risk Management Services, focusing on the evaluation of product opportunities, software product design options, and new product development.

He serves as Director of Product Management for Shockproof! Training.

He has a BS in Business Administration and Information Systems from California State University, East Bay, and an MBA from the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley.

Steve

Steve Hamburger

Director of Marketing

Steve Hamburger is a CMO with over 40 years of Banking, Credit, Marketing and Relationship building experience He has long been developing innovative, technology-driven solutions for the financial services industry.

His team at Crocker National Bank created the nation's first Home Equity Line of Credit called; EquityLine and then worked with the Federal Reserve to make it a legal national financial product. With Financial Proforma's a Moody's Investor Service Company, he helped bring together 12 Global banks in validating the first commercial lending analytical scoring model which began the use of analytical models in Middle Market Commercial lending decisions.

Today, as Shockproof! Training's CMO his focus is on directing and implementing the strategic marketing direction for the company and increasing the overall customer base.

David Miller

David Miller

Director of
Software Development

David Miller was head of software design and development at Financial Proformas, Inc., a position he held through the acquisition of Financial Proformas, Inc. by Moody's Investor Services in 1995. In that capacity, he was primarily responsible for Accelerate! Decisions, an essential cornerstone of the FAST financial analysis system that largely automated the credit write-up.

Miller presently serves as Shockproof! Training's Director of Software Development, providing the design and functionality for the company's online courses. In addition, he is the initial contact for sales and application support for the company. He has been closely involved in application development and support for more than 35 years and has a BS in Computer Science from California State University, East Bay.
